Why Choose Vines and Villages Tours?
We aren’t your typical tour company. We aren’t going to sequester you away at some Agriturismo in the middle of nowhere, and we want you to immerse yourself in the area’s local life.
- We know the vines and villages intimately, having worked with, and sometimes for, the wineries for 35-40 years. We visit the best wineries in each village that represent the unique qualities of each appellation. We offer expert level tours, whether you are an expert or not. You can’t help going home with a lot more knowledge of each area than you came with.
- There will be barrel tastings and some hands-on V.I.P. experiences, but we won’t be standing around looking at barrels and fermenters at every winery. We will be tasting wine, running off to villages for sightseeing, enjoying excellent local wines during lunch in those villages, back to wineries, and then plenty of free time at the end of the day.
- Rather than sequester you in a rural hotel or agroturismo, far from restaurants and nightlife, we use historic urban cores for our base of operations. That allows you to shop, explore tapas and wine bars, or enjoy Michelin-rated meals in your evening hours. It costs us quite a bit more to provide this, but we think your ultimate experience will be much richer because of it.
- You will see a lot of the region and learn quite a bit on our tours, but we don’t run you ragged. If we have a day or two where we are go, go, go we will schedule a day afterwards with a more relaxed activity/schedule for you to recover. That might look like a cheese tour and then a city tour with free time to explore, followed by a free evening so you can recharge your batteries.
- Food is a very large part of each of our tours, and at least one activity a day will center on pairing local wine with the local food specialties. Any wine that we don’t finish during our winery tours and lunches in villages will be enjoyed before dinner at the hotel in our “Vines and Villages” happy hour each night. This gives you a chance to revisit the wines after they have benefited from breathing and opening up.
- We go out of our way to craft unique experiences that other tour companies without our expertise would miss out on. We aren’t going to post what we do differently and give other companies a chance to emulate us (it’s happened before), but we will share that info with you before you book a tour with us!
- Tom is a wine and food geek. Tiffany is a customer service savant who is also passionate about wine and food. Our skill set is quite diverse, and we complement each other well. We are always available to assist with whatever you need help with. From reservations to optional experiences, to add-on trips before or after your tour, we are here for you. We are logistics experts and always ready with a recommendation.
